Facilities:
Creative Connection has a well equipped classroom and outdoor play area, where trained staff work with groups of up to 12 children. We are a ministry of Central Kitsap Presbyterian Church which is located at 9300 NW Nels Nelson Rd in Bremerton, WA.
Registration:
We recommend that parents and children visit the school and have a tour of the classes and facilities. Please call the Director to arrange a visit. A completed registration form must be returned before the child's first day of school. Submit the form with the non-refundable registration fee to reserve a space for your child. We require that all children be at least 3 years old and completely toilet-trained before their start date in our preschool program. If your child is enrolled in our Kindergarten program, they must be 5 years old on or before August 31st.
Tuition:
Annual tuition is $1665 for the Pre-Kindergarten program; $1440 for the Monday/Wednesday/Friday program; and $1170 for the Tuesday/Thursday program. The annual tuition has been divided into 9 monthly payments for your convenience. Annual tuition for Kindergarten is $3200 which is divided into 10 equal payments (September through June) for your convenience. Tuition is collected a month in advance (October's tuition is due September 1st, etc). Tuition is due on the 1st of the month for the following month with the exception of September's tuition, which is due May 1st. You may put it in the tuition envelope hanging by the office or you may give it to the Director. Please do not give it to the teachers. Tuition not received by the 10th of the month is subject to a $10.00 late charge. If a problem with payment arises, please talk to the Director before the 10th of the month. A 30-day delinquency shall constitute grounds for dropping the child from the program, pending review by the Director. The Preschool Advisor Board reserves the right to drop a child from the program due to non-payment of tuition. No refund of tuition due to absence will be made. A $15.00 service fee will be levied for any NSF checks.
If you refer a new family to Creative Connection and they enroll in our program, you will receive a credit of $25 off one month's tuition. Your account will be credited once the new family has enrolled and paid their 1st month's tuition. *New families only. No more than 3 referral credits per month/account.
Once you have enrolled your child for the preschool program, it is expected that she/he will be in the program for the entire year. An important point to note is that Creative Connection Preschool is a school and not a daycare center. since most students seek to be enrolled in a program for the entire school year, it can be difficult for the school to fill vacated positions. When a student withdraws from the program unexpectedly before the start of the school year or mid year, it can cause a financial hardship for the school. Creative Connection Preschool is a nonprofit organization which means that tuition fees are kept low because they are tightly coupled to full enrollment operational costs. Most operational costs associated with running the preschool are fixed, such as staff salaries, facilities, and equipment. Therefore, a vacated position results in lost tuition and can cause the school to run at a deficit. If your child must withdraw either before the start of the school year or during the school year, please give at least one month notice to allow for placement of another child to fill the vacancy. Failure to provide 30 days notice in writing will result in the need to pay an additional month's tuition.
Board of Directors:
A Board consisting of representatives from Central Kitsap Presbyterian Church govern Creative Connection Preschool. We are a tax exempt organization under the sponsorship of the church; therefore donations and contributions are tax deductible.
Staff:
We prefer our teachers to have special training through an early childhood education program. All staff belong to the National Association for the Education of Young Children. The student to teacher ration will not exceed 12 to 1 in each classroom.
Morning Preschool Hours:
Hours of operation are 9:15AM to 11:45AM daily. Parents must pick up their children between 11:40 and 11:50 AM. Please observe these times closely. Parents who are habitually late picking up their children will be fined a late fee. Prompt pick up of your student is a requirement for continued attendance.
Afternoon Pre-K Hours:
Hours of operation for our afternoon Pre-K program are 12:45-3:15PM Monday through Thursday. Parents must pick up their children between 3:10 and 3:20. Please observe these times closely. Parents who are habitually late picking up their children will be fined a late fee. Prompt pick up of your student is a requirement for continued attendance.
Kindergarten Hours:
Hoursoperation for the Kindergarten program are 9:15AM-1:15PM Monday through Friday. Our Kindergarten program operates 180 days per year, in keeping with state requirements for public kindergarten programs. We follow the Central Kitsap School District schedule and our Kindergarten class will begin earlier in September than our preschool classes and run will into the month of June.
Class Schedule:
Our program provides opportunities for growth in independence and self-esteem. Our program encompasses skill development that includes: reading readiness, math readiness, science, motor coordination, art, music, dramatic play, social skills and Christian formation. Daily room schedules are similar in all classes, and appropriate to age: free choice play time, circle time, snack, outdoor or indoor gross motor, music and stories, weekly science or cooking projects, and Bible stories. We take into consideration the uniqueness and individual needs of each child when conducting daily activities.
Holidays:
We observe the Central Kitsap School District (CKSD) holidays: Labor Day, Veteran's Day, teacher in service days in October, January, and March, Christmas and Spring Break, Martin Luther King Day, President's Day, and Memorial Day.
Field Trips:
Field trips are organized approximately bi-monthly. Parents must provide for transportation of their child. We regret that due to insurance restrictions we cannot transport your children.
Snow Closure Days:
If CKSD is closed due to weather, we will also be closed. If CKSD is late, we will not have morning preschool. However, Kindergarten will have an equally late start and afternoon Pre-K will begin on time. Please be aware that the back parking lot may be closed during inclement weather; in this case, please use the front parking lot.
Snacks:
Snacks are provided by parents on a rotating basis. We ask that they be nutritious and non-sugared. You will receive a snack schedule each month from your child's teacher.
Lunch:
If your child is enrolled in the Kindergarten program, they will need to bring a wholesome lunch from home daily, as we do not have the proper facilities to offer a hot lunch program.
Sign In and Out:
Any person other than the parent or regular care pool driver must be duly authorized to pick up a child and must sign an attendance register. Please inform you child's classroom teacher of any car pool or pick up changes.
Clothing:
Our activities include messy play such as painting, water, sand and clay, and we suggest that children wear comfortable play clothes and sturdy non-skid soled shoes. Our Northwest weather changes quickly and children should always come dressed for outdoor play. Remember to label all coats, hats, mittens and other belongings. Please be sure your child is wearing clothes s/he can undo and do up her/himself as the teacher cannot leave the classroom to assist in the bathroom except during emergencies.
Health:
Children who have a fever, diarrhea, vomiting, excessive coughing, runny nose or eyes, or a strange rash should not come to preschool. Children should remain at home until such symptoms subside. If your child is too ill to go outside, she/he is too ill to attend preschool. Please notify the school immediately if your child has a contagious disease (i.e. lice, chicken pox, measles, etc.).
Discipline Policy:
Our ultimate goal is to help children learn positive ways of dealing with problems and feelings, so they are self-directed, happy people. We provide positive suggestions and choices and redirections as appropriate. When dealing with inappropriate behavior, we encourage verbalization and acknowledge the child's feelings. If the child needs to be removed from the activity, we allow the child to tell us when she is ready to re-enter the group. We help them to make a smooth re-entry into the activity. Spanking or corporal punishment is never used, nor do we allow the children to hit each other. If a child's behavior is continually destructive or harmful to self or others, s/he may need to be withdrawn from the preschool until both parents and staff feel s/he is ready to successfully begin again. If a staff member sees evidence or suspects a child is being abused outside the preschool, we are required by law to report it to the proper authorities.
